- The Hertz staff sounded like they solumnly understood when they emailed me to tell me I’d left the laptop under the passenger seat of the rental car we’d returned on Monday.
- Our eldest daughter completed her annual “Drama in the woods” club, which, we realised this year, is probably a bit inconvenient to take her to for a full week. The hours being 10-4, when work hours are understandably 9-5. Although it’s worth every incovenienve when we go to the ‘show’ on the last day and see a beaming “Badger Granny” deliver her well-practiced lines to us in her forest-gathered and hewn costume.
- We’re quite reliant on our electric cargo bike to carry the first-born to the club, but Wednesday’s disaster was that we left the cargo bike charging over night but in the morning realised the plug wasn’t on. Resulting in a very slow, sweaty ride up the infamous Bounds Green hill.
- Beans! The bean plants in the garden have successfully sprouted their recognisable edible cylinders. After months of slug warfare (all on Lizzy’s part) we now have purple runner beans.
- More garden news, we have resident common crickets nestled in our borders. I’m unsure whether they’re crickets or grasshoppers but they make a lovely chirrup in the evening sun.
- The eldest and I were learning about Money from her “The Week Junior” magazine. After deciding that she’d like to earn some extra cash I asked her to wake up early every day and empty the dishwasher for £1. She willingly accepted and it’s now the best £365 I spend each year.
- Just another yearly reminder that kids should have 25 days holiday a year and be able to book it when they want…
