- Back to work and back to school and a whole lotta week of stress. So obviously we started sleep training the littlest kiddo at the same time. Sleep training is basically just leaving your kid to cry on their own in the dark. It’s heart-breaking, but after 3 days the littlest is almost sleeping through the whole night. The benefits far outweigh the pain.
- The church in my home town’s roof collapsed https://happyvalley.org.uk/?page_id=963 Having passed this church many times as a child, youth, teen, young adult, adult and old person, I find this to be quite sad. I’m not big into religion, but appreciate the community aspect of a big hall for weddings and Dodads. I really feel deeply when buildings aren’t maintained and rescued, but I don’t have the money to do anything
- I had two 11km soggy runs to work in the after-summer squelch. Slipping all over the place made me realise that it’s about time to replace my running shoes. I spent the week working out how I can afford to stay being a runner when shoes are getting close to £200 a pair. Is it worth it?
- The eldest has recently come up with a short novella concept that is pretty inspiring about the world splitting in half and two twins who bring it back together. Liz and I have been helping her write the book using our extensive knowledge of book writing. Oh wait, neither of us know any book writing techniques so we’ve been blagging our way through using a mix of post-its and mis-remembered english lit concepts.
- I managed to get our Samsung Frame TV to display a selection of our summer photos which feels twee.
- There’s this thing in our family where we have loads of house work to do, but never any time to do it. The other week I spent an hour or so trying to mount curtain rails but only got to the point of having the brackets in. Luckily Liz now has three free weeks and has heroically fitted curtains and is now being a DIY hero by taking on the rest of our list of unfinished businesses.
