- I bought some new running shoes after my old ones lasted just 1500 kms. I could probably keep running in them but I feel like my toes/forefeet are gripping the asphalt as I run.
- Since Thursday our youngest has been whispering to me that she had made me a fathers day card. Whispering to her is what makes something secret. “It’s blue dad” she whispers, grinning. “Do you want to see it?” “No thanks, give it to me on Sunday” I whisper back. But she has no concept of time so I tell her this for 3 days straight.
- Our handmade euros tournament tracking board is now up and we’ve organised the family sweepstake. The kids drew the teams out of the hat while our eldest quizzed me about the inequality of having only the men play.
- Lay on a horizontal tree trunk, nature bathing in Epping Forest. Head on a jacket-pillow. A thermos coffee in hand. I’m staring at the sunlight, the blue sky background to the canopy of birch and oak leaves that sway playfully in the summer breeze. While my beautiful wife uses a fallen branch to dig a deep poo-pit for our kids bottom emergency. Classic fathers day. Cracking family. #LeaveNoTrace
