- New running shoes arrived and they fit! I don’t like them that much, but they’re comfy and slightly bouncy. It also meant I had new shoe motivation and managed to run most weekdays committing fully to sliding the downslope to winter.
- Heating is still not fixed.
- Work has been hectic this week. I’ve left every day working right up to the wire, yet still, on Friday, worked late.
- One of the kids (The Youngest) is asleep on the train to Brighton. The middle one and I are drawing scary monsters and listening to Queens greatest hits Yoto card. The monsters are call Mr Hairy and The Scare. The Scare lives in a cave haunted by eyes.
- “Dada, How do you spell Don’t Enter?”
- The youngest two and I got to Brighton a little early and were taken to Freegle, a shop where everything is free and the quality of items is v.low. This doesn’t matter when you’re six-years-old and the novelty of picking something up from a shop and just taking it home is more powerful than the fact the thing your taking is a badly damaged set of toy safety goggles.
- The safety goggles made our middle kid look like a minion, which went down very well.
- Lachie brought us to a pizza-by-the-slice place, then proceeded to buy a humungus full margherita pizza. The box was so big it didn’t fit in the bin. Our middle one decided she didn’t want margherita because the pizza tasted amazing, and that’s not what kids like, so we went to a place that sold mini sausage rolls in all different flavours of pork. They called it “pig and mix” Snort! The middle kid proceeded to vehemently verify she would eat all five sausage rolls to the delight of the proprietor. Once we had them bagged she ate half a sausage roll. 0.5.
- The smallest kid ate 3 sausage rolls
- The kids proceeded to have a great time and we had a lovely time chatting and talking and discussing various 90’s house features that you can’t decorate over, and were probably quite rude about how the previous owners had decorated our friends’ lovely house. But hopefully it didn’t come across that way. Lachie and I and the six-year-olds played piano, well, Lachie played the piano and I tried to play and the kids just thumped the remaining keys with dinosaurs and cars and whatnots and it was very funny. 10/10
