- Our tiny football player of the day for two weeks straight became “non-player of the day” today. Progress is not linear. Swings and roundabouts etc.
- Sofa chaos when the one we ordered from Swoon arrived and was not as expected. The seat was 5cm higher than advertised and the rear cushions felt like they were pushing us off the sofa onto the floor. It looked gorgeous though and the delivery/customer support was 100%.
- We had national food week in work and it involved an “afternoon tea” portion which had sandwiches and scones. I kinda like that version of British food, it’s all about maintaining politeness while people serve you OKish bland bread and fillings and, sandwiches are a much safer lunchtime bet than jellied eels.
- I was thinking of making a baked, english desert to take in but couldn’t think of what I could make in a half evening with nowhere near the ingredients I’d need.
- Circumnavigated London with the littlest on a visit to the sofa.com showroom, then to Stratford John Lewis. We managed to pop in to see Mire Lee’s Open Wound at the Turbine hall and when lying on the floor the littlest said the sculptures looked like butterflies. To me we were bottom lurkers looking up through a sea of plastic bag jellyfish. We were both awed.
- Watching the kids piled together on a sofa, the eldest talking enthusiastically about her favourite crisps. Feeding the littlest orange wotsits. Took me back to a memory of my big sister secretly feeding me juicy fruit bubblegum while we watched the road outside for my mum to return, feeling like the naughtiest kids. Quickly wrapping the chewed gum into its foil before she could see what we were doing. The kids are alright.
