- Is it worth me saying it’s hot? Probably. It’s hot isn’t it? This weeks heat had the effect of making the whole weeks activities seem slightly more chaotic.
- Sometimes I do work on a weekend to make sure I’ve had enough time to think, or so I can help a team to better understand something. I used the weekend to prepare a summary of our team’s strategy. So it could be communicated more rapidly to other teams. The decision to continue work on the weekend is tough and invariably results in me being annoyed I’m missing out on family time…
… whenever I do this, without fail, something gets changed and the work I do is invalidated. This week was no exception.
- My youngest is at nursery. In this nursery they organised a “Doughnuts for dads” event where all dad’s bring their kids to school the day after fathers day. The way they get the dad’s to come is by serving doughnuts and having an alliterative event title. Obviously this worked. I chatted to some other dads and the littlest and I ate three doughnuts between us.
- This week marked 10 years since Lizzy and I got married in a riotous ill-organised, low-budget, caelidh-type party wedding in Cheshire. If you haven’t met her, Liz is an incredible person who organises a lot of our life before I get around to it, who loves stories, who is very good at remembering peoples names and caring about what they’re up to, who worries about the right sort of futures for our family and who makes a lot of our crazy dreams and adventures happen.
- To celebrate this milestone we went for pies at the pie room (Holborn Dining Room) A totally inappropriate-for-the-weather choice, but a very decadent, pastry-encrusted evening.
- Lost my Busuu streak of 800+ days. I will never feel whole again.
