- One of my superhero traits is that I’ve never had my eyes tested. Wow, you may be thinking, he must have great vision! My as-yet untested hypothesis is that this is most likely untrue. Another problem introduced by not being tested, is that I have no concept of any terminology associated to eye testing. So when I take the eldest for her first checkup at the local optical vision clinic, I have to be taught all the concepts and read the kids pamphlets in the waiting room to understand the difference between short and long sightedness. Such privilege.
- Our littlest, tiniest, dot-of-a-kid turned 4-years old this week. And, although she’s still a three-nager at some things (refusing to go onto the football pitch for training, grabbing sofa cushions with both hands and feet when its her time for bed) mostly she’s an incredible ball of energetic curiosity who is inexplicably a fan of paw-patrol, football and transport.
- I spent a lot of the tail end of the week baking and assembling a banging ganached chocolate ‘4’ cake with a car theme. Lizzy made a delicious italian meringue buttercream which I then stressed about serving because it’s barely cooked egg and my priorities as an amateur baker are:
- No one gets food poisoning
- Refer to 1
- But we served it and everyone enjoyed it and no one got food poisoning so we’ll probably serve it again.
- Lizzy and I spent a romantic evening emptying and disinfecting our storage cupboards after we found a meal moth larvae (maggot) crawling up a sugar packet. After much searching, it seems like meal moths most prefer arborio rice and quinoa. Fancy!
